Today I though long and hard about the colors I wanted to use and I’m so happy with the results. I’ve been feeling like none of my colors are really consistent, so I want to focus more on finding a palette to stick with for the most part. I think it will bring a bit more cohesiveness to my art. Corals and Turquoises are some of my favorite colors, so I’m going to try to continue using them in my paintings and hopefully it will tie things together a bit more. (My grandmother’s entire house was turquoise, inside and out…I think that’s where I get it from).
Also, I’ve started thinking about some of the animals I’ve been painting. A several years ago, I took an outdoor survival class and one of the things we were asked to do was reflect on an animal totem of our choosing as a symbol for our journey. Many animals are associated with characteristics, like the wise owl. I’ve always been interested in the personification of animals in art, plus I like the idea that animals can be our teachers. I’ve started thinking about what each of these animals represents, and adding some of those characteristics to the descriptions. These little paintings are like artistic reminders of a characteristic that we hold within us, or one that we want to work on developing. Plus, they are cute!
I like those thoughts. Love the paintings and colors!
