Desert Creosote Salve [Old Label]

Original price was: $12.00.Current price is: $6.00.

Creosote Bush, a.k.a Chaparral and Larrea tridentata, is the quintessential desert dweller and known by many for her wisdom and healing gifts. In Spanish it is called “La Gobernadora”, the governess, because of how the plant rules over large expanses of the harshest desert. As is perfect for the sun drenched region she dwells, she is a harmonizer of the sun. Her powerful antioxidants help her to thrive in the desert, and when shared with us these same compounds help protect our skin against free-radical damage, keeping our outer edge resilient in even the harshest environments.

This salve would be useful to stop the burning and itching of insect bites, especially mosquito and ant stings. It can help to repair dry, cracked or sun damaged skin or soothe scabs that are tight and itchy. It has moisturizing capabilities.

Description

Creosote Bush, a.k.a Chaparral and Larrea tridentata, is the quintessential desert dweller and known by many for her wisdom and healing gifts. In Spanish it is called “La Gobernadora”, the governess, because of how the plant rules over large expanses of the harshest desert. As is perfect for the sun drenched region she dwells, she is a harmonizer of the sun. Her powerful antioxidants help her to thrive in the desert, and when shared with us these same compounds help protect our skin against free-radical damage, keeping our outer edge resilient in even the harshest environments.

She’s knobby and twisted, yet graceful and light at the same time. The spring sun bounces off her tiny green leaves like golden sparkles. And during the fleeting moments of late winter rain that we often hope for in the desert, she imparts her familiar scent (it’s not easily described but you’ll know it if you’ve met her).

Chaparral takes it’s time to grow, as many good things do – especially in the desert. Her volatile oils and resins are her tool to slow time, actually curtailing her own growth. The same compounds help her to elicit her own personal boundaries, keeping plants from germinating nearby as well.  Her humble and inconspicuous appearance hides tremendous strength. And as fierce winds whip through the desert, she serves as a teacher of how to remain rooted in the Earth, yet flexible enough to sway with the breeze.

This salve would be useful to stop the burning and itching of insect bites, especially mosquito and ant stings. It can help to repair dry, cracked or sun damaged skin or soothe scabs that are tight and itchy. It has moisturizing capabilities.
