Pamper your skin and senses with this floral face steam blended from Lavender, Rose Petals, Chamomile, and Lemon Verbena. The scent is heavenly and delicious but that aroma does more than just delight your nose, the volatile oils also care for your skin!
Why is facial steaming so wonderful? Well, first, the steam causes your skin to sweat, helping to open your pores and release impurities. If you have listened to my skincare audio lessons that you get when you sign up for my inner circle, you’ll remember that our skin is one of our major elimination pathways.
Once your pores have opened, this allows the volatiles of the plants to penetrate your skin and get to work with their antiseptic and antibacterial actions. The compounds in the plants are also soothing and moistening, and antioxidant, helping your skin to gain that gorgeous glow we all love. The lavender and chamomile also help to calm your nervous system, while Rose tones, and Lemon Verbena uplifts!
Facial steams are a wonderful ritual to cultivate some self-love as well as bringing your into the grounded presence of your senses.
To Use: In a large heat-safe bowl, place 1-2 TBSP herbs. place a towel over your head to capture steam. Pour boiling over over herbs in bowl. Place your head over the steam, being careful not to burn yourself. Take deep grounding breaths while enjoying the aroma and allowing the steam to nourish your face.
NOTE: When you are done steaming, you can strain (and compost) the herbs and use the remaining tea as a hair rinse or add it to bath water for a special treat.Â
